Very well written, and a realistic view of the issues. One of the primary reasons I started a Substack was because so much of the mainstream narrative around AI feels inconsequential compared to what's actually happening. Very few people are willing to move past hyperbole and get to the real conversations that matter.

It’s good to see others leaning into thoughtful, grounded critique instead of just echoing whatever gets the most clicks. Keep going—this is the kind of perspective that cuts through the noise.

Thank you Josh, I really appreciate your note. It is why I started my substack as well. I think it’s so important to step back and see what’s happening, digest it, think on it, and then discuss it. I think that’s what we miss now. Everything is a headline and people trying to get the clicks as you state, but we need to have deep thought and conversations. Looking forward to following your work.

Yes to all of this. I hit a wall with AI fatigue earlier this year—it felt like drinking from a firehose. Learning to slow down, ask better questions, and use AI as a tool (not a trend) has helped me reconnect with what matters.

So much this! We are being thrown AI in nearly all facets of work and even life. I love the idea of slowing down, I think that’s such an important step many of us miss, especially with how fast technology changes.

Great piece Kristina! I agree that there is an AI fatigue, apart from what you mentioned, I think it’s also because of how much the word is used (or overused, I guess).

Every company is trying to do some “AI” and sometimes it’s vague in what they mean by that. This generic term simply encompasses so much

oops, accidentally sent the comment without finishing!

Continuing on, I think the emotional acceptance of AI is generally not there yet because of this vagueness. At the end of the day, what is AI!? LLMs? algorithm? I recently heard the term, Collective Intelligence, which actually makes more sense to me. Anyways, I still struggle with what it is exactly, and so sometimes I find it great, sometimes scary and concerning, and sometimes worrying if it’ll replace my job.

Thank you, Lala, for your comment! You're absolutely right, AI has definitely become an overused umbrella term, which adds to the confusion and fatigue. I love that you brought up collective intelligence. The idea of humans and AI working together to achieve something greater than either could alone is both exciting (and a little scary).

There’s so much potential for good if we stay intentional about how we use it. I hope more of us choose to use it in ways that benefit people, rather than harm.

Completely agree on the problem of not focusing on the positives. In the attention economy we've built, positive news is a niche outlier but it _is_ there.

1000% agree with you! Which had me thinking of a weekly topic idea. There is so much good out there that AI is being used for and we definitely need to platform it.

I feel like you'd definitely corner a niche with that. Please consider this a vote to give it a shot!

Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this Kristina, AI truly has been taking over lately and it's depressing to think about the jobs lost due to companies trying to utilize AI to replace having to pay workers. It reminds me of when I was in high school and my teacher told us he doesn't use self-checkout because people have lost their jobs because of it. AI is great! I hope we can find a way to utilize it in a better way
